Aicelle Santos wins in Kazakhstan!

Nanalo ang first runner up sa second season ng Pinoy Pop Superstar na si Aicelle Santos sa Astana Song Festival sa Kazakhstan!

Inuwi ni Aicelle ang isa sa dalawang major awards – ang Best Performance of Own Country Song na sinulat ng song writer na si Vehnee Saturno.

Aicelle competed with singers from 14 countries. “This award, this competition has opened doors, the experience itself, para po mag-grow as an artist. Kung baga, hindi ka lang nakatungtong sa stage sa Pilipinas lang, kung hindi sa ibang bansa, ipinakita mo, ‘Ito po kami, Pilipinas, kaya naming makipag-compete,’” she shares.



PPS3 2nd Qualifier: Jenny Escalada

Last week is Jennie’s 4th week.

She was also introduce in SOP last Sunday together withe the 1st qualifier, Joyce.

This Saturday, she was no longer a defending superstar because PPS decided to change the defending superstar once he/she reached 4 weeks.

pero kung ako papipiliin gusto ko yung naka blue. i think her name is Francheska. She’s beautiful. She was able to beat the other 5 contenders.At the end, she lost to Jennie as the defending superstar.



Jonalyn and Brenan – The Real Champions

GMA Network again successfully proved that world-class talent belongs to the Kapuso Network. The industry’s best, and now, the world’s best was discovered, produced, and developed by GMA.

Jonalyn Viray and Brenan Espartinez are only two of the artists who started with GMA through Pinoy Pop Superstar, and whose rare talents are being honed and harnessed through the different development programs of the GMA Artist Center.

At the 10th annual World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), Team Philippines wowed the other participating countries by their phenomenal success. Held in Hollywood, California, the entertainment capital of the globe, the WCOPA is a prestigious international competition dubbed as the Olympics of the Performing Arts. This highly-esteemed global event showcases the artists talent, professionalism, good sportsmanship, and mutual respect. Out of 4000 delegates, the Philippine contingent brought home more than 50 awards, definitely solidifying our ground as excellent world-class performers.

Leading the delegation was Ms. Ida R. Henares, appointed National Director for WCOPA Philippines and Assistant Vice President/Head of the GMA Artist Center. From last years two contestants, this year, the Philippines fielded twenty-three contestants to compete in the vocal, instrumentalist, dance, and acting events. The national delegation for this years competition was spearheaded by GMA Artist Centers (GMAAC) talents Jonalyn Viray and Brenan Espartinez, both products of the most credible search for the next singing sensation, Pinoy Pop Superstar.

Competing in the Vocal Senior Division, both Jonalyn and Brenan outdid themselves, bringing pride and honor to the Philippines with their outstanding performances.

First Pinoy Pop Superstar Grand Champion Jonalyn Viray garnered 5 Gold medals for the following competition events: Broadway, Original, Pop, R&B/Jazz, and Variety. Her winning piece for the Original Competition event was Close To Where You Are, the carrier single from her debut album On My Own under GMA Records. The young diva also brought home the Female Vocal Solo Industry Award. Aside from these, the 16-year-old belter received the Overall Champion Female Vocal Solo Awards for the Broadway, Original, and Pop categories.

Pinoy Pop Superstar 1st runner-up, 20-year old Brenan Espartinez received the following accolades for his performance in the WCOPA: Overall Champion Male Vocal Solo for Gospel, Original, Pop and Variety; and 5 Gold medals for Gospel, Original, Pop, R&B/Jazz, and Variety. Brenan also received the Male Vocal Solo Industry Award. For the Vocal Duet/Trio, the awe-inspiring pair of Jonalyn and Brenan was given 2 Gold medals for Pop and R&B/Jazz, the Vocal Duet/Trio Industry Award, and Overall Champion Vocal Duet/Trio for the Pop, Gospel, and Broadway categories.

Joining the team were GMA Network talentsJon Joven, QTVs Fam Jam Champion, The Siblings, and the Cercado Sisters (runner-up). Completing the team Rachel Alejandro, Jeremie Antiporda, Faith Cuneta, Jennifer Bautista, Angelo Ortiz, Kim Flores, Bim Mangubat, Glenn Cadampog, Juaquin Garcia, and Rommel Luna.

The Philippine contingent was a multi-awarded team with the Cercado Sisters winning the Grand Champion Vocal Group Award, and Jon Joven bringing home the Overall Champion Male Vocal for Broadway Award among many other awards brought home by Team Philippines.

To celebrate the victory of our delegates, the countrys real concert TV SOP staged a grand homecoming and Heroes’ Welcome for the Jonalyn Viray and Brenan Espartinez last Sunday, August 20.

Pinoy Pop Superstar Pre-Qualifier

After a long search, PPS decide to have a fast forward from callback special. From 12 contenders that have won to be defender but did not succeed will have a chance to become a pre-qualifier.

From 12 down to 6 down to 3.

Luckily, Joyce Tañaña won to be pre-qualifier.
